Recent Developments in the Metabolizable Energy Feeding System for Ruminants

چکیده

Equations presented predict the metabolizable energy (ME) content of feeds, and ME requirements for maintenance and production. New approaches are described for defining the maintenance requirements of penned and grazing animals, and the composition and energy of liveweight gains. The latter employs the concept of a Standard Reference Weight (SRW) to characterise the various breeds of cattle and sheep and their sex types. The SRW are also used to define the change in liveweight equivalent to unit change in condition score, and in t h e procedure for predicting feed intake which is outlined.

Metabolizable Energy in Feeding Systems for Pigs and Poultry

The major consideration in this paper is the suitability of a metabolizable energy system for pigs. For poultry there is no practical alternative since urine and faeces are voided conjointly. The correction to digestible energy of a feedstuff for energy in urine is usually small, but there are circumstances when this may be large. Furthermore there are insufficient data on metabolizable energy ...

Measurement and Development of Prediction Models for Metabolizable Energy Contents of Corn Samples Collected from Poultry Feed Factories in Iran using Regression Equations

The purpose of this study was to determine the contents of chemical compositions, apparent metabolizable energy (AME), apparent metabolizable energy corrected for nitrogen (AMEn), true metabolizable energy (TME), true metabolizable energy corrected for nitrogen (TMEn), in corn samples, as well as to predict diferrent energy contents of corn samples given their chemical components. A total...

A New Precision–Fed Chick Assay for Determining True Metabolizable Energy Values of some Poultry Feed Ingredients for Broiler Chickens

Two experiments were conducted to determine: first, the best time of excreta collection after force feeding of broilers to yield the maximal amount of excreta, and second, nitrogen-corrected true metabolizable energy contents of some poultry feedstuffs including yellow corn, soybean meal, corn gluten meal, canola meal and poultry by-product meal by a new precision-fed chick assay using 3-week-o...

Rumen Degradability and Model Prediction of Nutrient Supply to Ruminants from Different Processed Soybean Meals

DVE2010 system was used for model prediction of nutrient supply to ruminants from soy bean meal (SBM), extruded soy bean meal (SBE) and full-fat soybean meal (FSBM). Extruded soy bean meal had the highest truly absorbed rumen undegraded protein in the small intestine (ARUP) followed by SBM and FSBM. There was no significant difference between SBE and FSBM in the case of truly absorbed rumen syn...

Factors Affecting Diet Digestibility in Dairy Cattle

Feces typically comprises the greatest loss of ingested energy in ruminants, and the variation in converting digestible energy to metabolizable energy is usually small. Diet digestibility is determined by intrinsic properties of interand intramolecular structure of plant cell walls, which establish the upper potential for the rate and extent of cell wall digestion in ruminants (Mertens, 1993). ...
